Licensing Changes - First Quarter 1998


As part of ongoing efforts to communicate matters of interest to the insurance industry, the Ontario Insurance Commission (OIC) is releasing the following information on changes to licences for the quarter ending March 31, 1998.

The changes in the first quarter of 1998 include announcements of licences issued to new insurers, licence cancellations, insurance company amalgamations, and amendments.

The licences of the following insurers have been cancelled after satisfactory arrangements have been made for any insurance liabilities.

    The company transferred its policy liabilities to
    Royal Insurance Company of Canada.

    The company transferred its policy liabilities to

Amalgamations:

  • McGillivray Mutual Insurance Company and The London
    Township Mutual Insurance Company
    amalgamated.

    The amalgamated company will use the new name
    Middlesex Mutual Insurance Co.

    Middlesex Mutual Insurance Co. is licensed for
    Accident and Sickness, Automobile, Boiler and
    Machinery, Fidelity, Hail, Liability, Property.
    (Accident and Sickness and Fidelity are limited to
    the plan of insurance, and any subsequent
    amendments, filed by the Ontario Mutual Insurance
    Association with the Superintendent
    of Insurance).

    The licences of The London Township Mutual
    Insurance Company and McGillivray Mutual
    Insurance Company
    have been cancelled.
